1.3 Using Precautions

When AMK 3800 series inverter is used, please pay attention for the following aspects:

1. Constant Torque and Low Speed Operation

When the inverter drives the motor in long period and low speed operation, as the heat radiation effects become poor, it may affect the life of motor. If it requires low speed, constant torque and long period operation, it must select dedicated frequency conversion motor.

2. Confirmation of Motor Insulation

When AMK3800 series inverter is applied, please confirm the insulation of used motor before driving it to prevent damaging the equipment. Additionally, when the motor is located in severe environment, please check the insulation condition of motor regularly to ensure the safety operation of the system.

3. Negative Torque Load

For the sites, such as lifting load etc, it may often appear negative torque often. The inverter may produce over-current or overvoltage fault and cause tripping operation. At the moment, it shall consider brake resistor matching.

4. Mechanical Resonance Point of Load Equipment

Within certain output frequency range, the inverter may encounter mechanical resonance point of load equipment. It must avoid the point through setting jump frequency.

5. Capacitors or Sensitive Devices Improving Power Factor

As the output voltage of inverter is pulse waveform, if capacitors or lightningproof sensitive devices for power factor improving are installed on output side, it may cause fault stripping or component damage of the inverter. Make sure disassemble them. Additionally, on the output side, it is suggested not to add air switch, contactor and other switch components, as in Fig 1-3. (If switch components must be installed on the output side, it must ensure the output current of inverter in action moment is 0 on controlling.)

6. Operation above Frequency of 50Hz

If it is operated over 50Hz, in addition to consider the vibration of motor and increasing of noise, it must make sure the using speed scope of motor bearing and mechanical equipments. Be sure to make confirmation in advance.

7. Electronic Thermal Protection Value of Motor

When adaptive motor is selected, the inverter can implement thermal protection for the motor. If the motor does not match with the rated capacity of inverter, make sure to adjust the protection value or adopt other protection measures to ensure the safety operation of motor.

8. Altitude and Derating Using

In the area with altitude over 1000m, the heat radiation effect of inverter becomes poor due to rarefied air. It must take derating using. As in Fig 1-4, it is the relation curvet between rated current and altitude of inverter.
